For Climate Justice Activists living in denial, 10 tell tale signs that the global warming is a dying hoax

Global warming hysteria, whose gravy train INGOs and environmental organizations jumped into for the last decade or so, has run its course. Climate alarmism is today dying a slow and painful death. Here are 10 telltale signs that it is in its deathbed, grasping for its last breath:

1. Re-branding exercises

We live in this age of advertisement where if something isn't working, the first remedy is often to change the offending name. Repeated attempts to re-brand global warming are one of these. Global warming first metamorphosed as “climate change”.  This worked for some years but such was the gross misuse and abuse of the term that the public soon developed allergic to this term too and thus the desperate search for an alternative term in the last few months. Some alternatives recently floated are “climate weirdness” and “climate disruption “, the last coined by President Obama’s Science Czar John Holdren.

2. Church of Climatology in Terminal Decline

The Pope (Al Gore), High Priest (Pachauri), the Temple (IPCC) and their Holy Bible (AR4) of Climate Change today stand totally discredited.  Such as been their fall from grace that there are few takers for Gore’s seminars, his wife walked out on him and even his old boss, ex US President Bill Clinton calls him crazy. The once considered Climate Bible, IPCC AR4 packaged as cast in gold, has been discarded as used toilet paper. Meanwhile the IPCC is in the process of radical restructured and Pachauri is now trying to fend off attempts to deseat him as the Chair of the IPCC.

3. The Collapse of the Carbon Market

One of the keystones of the Climate Change Justice Movement was its audacious attempt to create a functioning market by monetizing the atmospheric trace gas known as CO2. Since Copenhagen last year, repeated scandals such as Climategate and IPCC errors caused apocalyptic frenzies and fears to dissipate and carbon prices around the world pummelled as a result.

The Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) is North America’s sole voluntary, legally binding greenhouse gas trading and carbon-offset projects in North America and Brazil. CCX where Al Gore holds majority proxy holdings is now on its last legs. Early August, CCX announced that it is drastically down scaling its operations. The reason - the going price of carbon from a high of $7.40 per tonne plunged to just $0.05. Yet there are no buyers in sight even at this rock bottom price.

4. Expected participation in Cancun to drop 82% viz-a-viz Copenhagen

Last year in Copenhagen at the Bella Center, site of the conference that holds a 15,000 people capacity, 45,000 people registered to attend the convention. This year the Climate Conference will take place in the Moon Palace Hotel Mexico though only 8000 people are expected to descend upon Cancun. This is a huge drop of 82% in attendance.

5. Renewable Energy Dumped and the Mad Scramble for Coal & Nuclear Power expansion begins

It couldn’t have been more ominous. US Barak Obama refused re-installation of solar panels at the White House. All pretence of renewable energy’s viability discarded as the President gave a huge impetus to re-start the country’s nuclear power capacity expansion after three decades. He announced a $8.3 billion in loan guarantees to build the first U.S. nuclear power plant as the environmental lobby watched in disbelief.  Meanwhile across the Atlantic, the UK coalition that inked a power sharing-agreement banning coal fired plants, watered down tough new environmental emissions standards, raising the possibility of dirty coal-fired power stations such as Kingsnorth going ahead.

Down under, the Coal Minister of Australia’s new coalition government of Labour and Green parties declared,
“The coal industry is a very vibrant industry with a strong future.”
World Bank funding for coal power stations has soared 40-fold over the last five years to hit a record high of $4.4 billion in 2010. Bank lending to coal-fuelled power projects significantly exceeds its financing of new renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. India recently was sanctioned $450-million loan from the International Finance Corporation, a branch of the World Bank, with the Asian Development Bank, Korea, and other backers, was for a planned $4 billion, 4,000-megawatt coal-burning power plant in Gujarat state. This is big reversal for the climate justice or activist movement in the country, coming soon after they failed to stall the Nuclear Liability Bill.

6. No Chance for New Climate Treaty; The sun to set over Kyoto Protocol

Hopes for any deal on a successor treaty to the Kyoto Protocol have almost irrevocably dimed at the Cancun meet later this year. Even if a miracle breakthrough is made at these talks, the chances of the US ratification of a new climate treaty is extremely bleak with the Democrats poised to suffer severe reverses in both the Congress and Senate mid-term elections in November.  The EU for instance made their position crystal clear when it clarified that it will no longer commit to any unilateral obligations to reduce CO2 emissions. The EU climate change commissioner sees especially the United States under an obligation to commit to binding reduction targets. Only then, Europe would do the same.

The only fallback strategy to keep the scam going is to extend the Kyoto Protocol. UN climate chief Christiana Figueres recently in India put this strategy into motion when she claimed that the Kyoto Protocol will continue post 2012 since it does not have a "sunset" clause. After the failure of the Copenhagen summit, Kyoto remains the only enforceable global treaty requiring industrialised nations to cut carbon emissions. Its current provisions run out in 2012. Yet, even this attempt has run into problems. Connie Hedegaard, EU’s Climate Secretary, in a blunt rebuff to the UN warned that Europe would not automatically sign up again to the Kyoto Protocol!

7. Climate Change & renewable energy out of World’s Leaders Lexicon

The statement of the G20 Toronto meeting in June this year had climate activists in the dumps. Complains Greenpeace:
Last year in Pittsburgh, G20 leaders of “voluntary, member-specific approaches,” to ending fossil fuel subsidies.” agreed, “To phase out and rationalize over the medium term inefficient fossil fuel subsidies while providing targeted support for the poorest. However, this year’s draft statement sees the commitment watered down."
Obama soon after confirmed that  this not an inadvertent omission. References to a cap on carbon emissions and a campaign pledge to spend $150 billion on clean energy technologies disappeared from the White House website in June.
Deleted items include a section titled “Closing the Carbon Loophole and Cracking Down on Polluters” that offered broad-brush goals for “protecting American consumers” and “promoting U.S. competitiveness.” Also eliminated was President Barack Obama’s oft-repeated campaign call to spend $150 billion over a decade on “energy research and development to transition to a clean energy economy.

8. The Climate Change Activist Movement have split up, with sections conceding defeat

Environmental groups face their future in climate-change debate, Washington Post:
“On Thursday, some of the country's most respected environmental groups - in the midst of their biggest political fight in two decades - sent a group of activists to Milwaukee with a message. We're losing....Environmental groups have won some victories in recent years, opposing individual coal-fired power plants and pressuring banks to stop funding "mountaintop removal" coal mines.  But for the green movement, this year's defeat was more than a loss; it was a reckoning, a signal that it had overestimated its influence. “
JoNova highlights further:
“Clean Energy Works, a coalition of 80 environmental, religious, veteran and labor groups, will phase out its operations this fall as Democratic congressional leaders abandon plans for a sweeping bill to cap greenhouse gas emissions. At its peak, the coalition had 200 field organizers in key states and more than 45 staffers based out of a “war room” in downtown Washington. It is led by Paul Tewes, who ran President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign operations in Iowa and other battleground states.”
It has became hip to flaunt that you are a sceptic

It’s one thing for global warming to have fallen off the public and media’s radar and another for it to end up as a butt for jokes. It was only a year ago when pseudo-intellects could be found bragging about reducing their carbon footprints at cocktail parties and coffee houses; they were listened to with rapt attention, invoking a sense of awe and reverence. Now the same routine could result in them being mistaken as a weirdo. We know the scam is over when it has become more hip these days to flaunt one’s carbon footprint bigger than everyone else in the cocktail table. The nouveau rich have discovered that this is a subtle way of advertising how affluent they lead their life-styles. Others take to this simply because it is hip these days to flaunt your credentials as a climate sceptic and badmouthing Greenpeace, NGOs, IPCC and Pachauri.

10. New Converts Puts the Movement in a Spot

Others take to this simply because it is hip these days to flaunt your credentials as a climate sceptic and badmouthing Greenpeace, NGOs, IPCC and Pachauri.

Notwithstanding their plunging popularity, climate change movement can take comfort that they have received support from some unexpected quarters.

Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al-Qaeda, the world’s most wanted man, condemned the US and other industrial economies, holding them responsible for the phenomenon of climate change. In an audio tape obtained by Al Jazeera, bin Laden criticised George Bush, the former US president, for rejecting the Kyoto pact and condemned global corporations!

Spain has been rocked by a never-ending series of corruption in its renewable energy sector. Clean energy is believed to have attracted dirty money, as the notoriously corrupt construction business sought ways to launder illegal earnings. Information about plans to build connection points to dump solar power into the grid also became hugely valuable: land prices around these points multiplied up to 10 times overnight. Subsidies assuring a 12% annual return on investment over 25 years sent Spain's notoriously corrupt real estate developers into frenzy. Power generated through coal was laundered as clean energy. Taking inspiration from the Spanish experience, the Italian mafia has now become the latest converts to climate change and pursuing renewable energy with an unbelievable fervour!

Charles Manson, the man who masterminded the brutal murders of nine people in the summer of 1969 in an effort to spark a race war in America, has adopted a new cause from his prison cell in California – he rebranded himself as  a prophet for the global warming movement. His eugenics beliefs were evident in a recent interview:

”Maybe I should have killed four or five hundred people then I would have felt better, I would have felt like I’d really offered society something…..the truth is the planet Earth is dying.”

Osama bin Laden, Italian Mafia, Charles Mason, Enron, Goldman Sachs, IPCC, Pachauri, Al Gore  and to this line up you add the Greenpeace, WWF, Christian Aid, Oxfam, ActionAid, CARE, Mercy Corps, WWC, Lutheran World Federation, World Vision, etc you will get the picture of the Climate Justice Movement! NGOs should probably hang a picture of this lineup in their offices just to remind themselves the company they keep these days.

  1. My carbon footprint is so big its prehistoric.
Unfortunately the UK is upping its environmental strategy as more green fascism bleeds into politics.
    We're being sucked dry here!
